That's a NICE pistol!! I had Turnbull do a Colt Officers Model 1911 like that for me a few years ago. It has Elk horn grips on it. When I was in law enforcement it was my Court gun. I would post pictures...........if I was smart enough

Doug Turnbull has certainly made himself the Gold Standard for firearm finishing.
Once upon a time, I had a .32-20 Winchester Model 92 that went through his shop (the SN was in his book), that I bought cheaply because the FFL I bought it from thought it just another refinished rifle.
I only sold it because I couldn't bring myself to D/T it for a receiver sight - which meant that I would also have had to alter the square post front sight (which was welded to the bbl @ the factory).
The only thing that made the sale palatable for me was that I quadrupled my money on it.

You just got 'smart enough'... ...in fact, smart enough to get me to do the leg-work...
These are only 990 pixels due to forum limitations, but if anyone wants the 3600 pixel versions I might be able to get them uploaded to PhotoBucket.com

Thanks to AJMD429 for the technologic aid. Again computers and I are on a path that seldom crosses........jes sayin. That's one reason I like lever guns so much, that's something I can wrap my mind around. I still do my muzzle loader hunting with a flint lock I made 30 years ago
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Theodore Roosevelt-
Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?

I'll even that up for you, I'm in the same camp. I have a 1911 that I've been working on, getting it to run just right, with the "right" ergonomics. A couple of weekends ago, I ran it in a match, and it ran flawlessly with Wilson mags, and the 3-dot sights were quick and easy to pick up, even in shady areas... so I've been researching finishes to put on it. The next step is to disassemble and start polishing... It'll either get re-parkerized, or one of the "paint" coatings... the one that's baked on. I'm sorta thinkin' a Marine CBQ look-alike... Still trying to decide whether I want to try stipplin' or checkerin' the front of the mag well.
As it sits now... it's sorta like the "ugly duckling!"

I'm happy you sent those pictures to Doc instead of me. I'm pretty sure the drool would have ruined my computer!
