I am fooling with a Model 71, 348 WCF, I am wondering if anyone has had the opportunity to try the load by Ed Harris, my take on the article shows it will work, 30 Cal or larger up to and including 35 Whelen etc. but I was hoping someone on these forums had some personal experience, I have RCBS 200 gr. cast bullets, I have Red Dot, and I have the desire to try this! hoping someone can confirm that this will work and is safe!

"The Load" (yeah, I couldn't remember and had to look it up) is 13 grains of Red Dot behind an average weight bullet for the cartridge. Generally gives nice plinking loads at cast/gas check velocities.
I put the question to the QuickLoad software -- QL thinks you'd get about 1500 fps and 26k psi with "The Load" and the 200 grain, .348 bullet. So mild pressure, moderate velocity.

Thanks for the link to the entire article.
That's a great idea in this environment of scarce and EXPENSIVE powders.

Wonderful article, and far from the first time I have been inspired by Ed Harris.
