Help me choose between these two
Unfortunately I can only afford one so have to choose
First is a Ross 1905 Sporter E in 303.Excellent bore , nice stock and 90 percent finish
Second is a Mauser MS350 has tang sight though probably not original and has a vintage german scope and mount though rear sight is missing.I already have a Mauser MS 350 and it has the the rEar sight but this one is in better condition

Seriously?
Asking this here is like going into a Weight-Watchers meeting with two bags, and asking you should eat the whopper or big mac. (grin)
(although that Ross is pretty neat, just for the history and looks. and it's a .303)

Get a cardboard sign that sez Collecting For Ross, and maybe there are a few Perot supporters left who would kick in.

Re: Help me choose between these two
My pick would be the Mauser with set trigger, and target Iron sights.

Both - Why plastic was invented..........
Then, with both Mausers in hand, you could divest yourself of the one you like least. .

Re: Help me choose between these two
I'd go with the Ross if limited to one. They are very interesting rifles and the three I've shot were all quite accurate. The sporters are also the best handling "bolt" guns out there in my opinion, almost as nice as Model 71. I've never had a shot at owning one when I had the cash.
You already have a MS350 and .22s are still nearly non-existent.

The Ross, would. If I knew more about the bolt flying backward, it may.
Re: Help me choose between these two
The one's with the alleged bolt issues were the 1910's. A lot of these guns have wallowed out chambers and headspace issues. Out of the 4 I've bought in the last 10 years three of them have had both. They are very cool rifles tho.PriseDeFer wrote:The Ross, would. If I knew more about the bolt flying backward, it may.

May your rifle always shoot straight, your mag never run dry, you always have one more round than you have adversaries, and your good mate always be there to watch your back.
