COSteve posts on AR15 quite a bit... said he didn't like the demeanor of folks here... like the questioning of his expertise I suppose. Adirondack Jack sold his business, moved out of NY to FL and then elsewhere... has some health issues, but doing better recently (as of a few months ago when we last spoke). Life dealt him some blows... and slow rebounding is sorta how I'd characterize it.

I've also been wondering what happened to 20cows, and the great collector friend of ours who posted all of the great old west photographs and photos of his collections (rangerider?). His location was Whitney. Those are a couple of good contributing Texas members who are missed. Many other of the old crew have moved on, ...the forum's loss, for sure!

Checking the Board Index each morning for B/D's and spammers, I notice a lot of members who have not been around for months or years, some were regular contributors to Leverguns and posted interesting topics too! :(

My wife has a Face Book account. It takes a long time to load for us since we're still on dial up.
To me it's a major waste of time. Here on Leverguns or other forums, I can read the threads I'm interested in, contribute or not, and move on.

On FB it's always loading, always doing something, too many things to keep an eye on. It takes too much time to track it. A person could waste their lives away on FB.

I will stay right here. Facebook is too busy with nonsensical stuff; here, everything might not be 'levergun' related, but it will be outdoor 'guy-stuff' related, and there isn't any whining nanny-state advocacy either.

Once we got off dial up I tried some Facebook.
When it loads quickly it is user friendly.
Go to settings and turn off the auto download. This will stop all of the videos from auto down load and start.
Some of the private groups are pretty good.
The Elder Keith group, Simply Rugged holsters, Leveraddicts, Savage 99, Savage 340 and the Sixguns groups are all pretty good.
On the internet I have a preference for boards powered by V Bulliten boards where we have multiple subcategories. I believe there should be some sub forums for the most active cartridges.

With tablets the Facebook groups are easier to use than the traditional boards. Facebook does not appear to be foible enough to provide sub forums. It is much easier to upload pictures.

I almost never use my Facebook page. The level of communication is just so superficial. If I want to share intimate experiences into my personal life, I would be more inclined to do them here than Facebook as I trust the members here more. What do you say about someone who is so narcissistic that they feel compelled to post a "selfie" on Facebook every single day about their routine daily events in life as to what they are doing??? Really?????

Not me and not us.

Tutt,

The private gun related groups are overall very good.
Give one a try sometime.
If ya find you don't like it, just click the leave group icon.
It's the future just as these forums were not so many years ago.
You'll see many of the forum players past and present in the groups.

I don't believe these forums are outdated at all, very much the opposite. If you have seen a turn around in people then that is simply the nature of groups of people over time, whether it is a digital gathering or a real one. I have
been on here many years, but have had fallow periods where other interests have taken over for a time, and then I have returned.
Facebook - too shallow and revolves too much around self promotion. I have a facebook page and only keep it up because I am not so anti-social I would go to the effort of deleting it; but I don't visit it from one month to another unless someone asks something of me.
Twitter...I don't even really know what it is or what it does to be honest.

I am not very Facebook savvy, I admit that. I am just what Carlsen described. Not so opposed as to delete my account on FB, but not willing to post my life to such a broad audience either. So it becomes very shallow to me.

The people I want to correspond with I do so by email or phone, or best yet, Skype.

Or a forum of people that I feel are to this day, the best of the lot.

I've more than my fair share of disagreements here but still feel this is the best forum I know of. I can't figure out how to navigate FB but every time I read things there, even on "forums" dedicated to firearms, I am struck by just so darn superficial it is. I'll pass for now. Leverguns, OTOH has heart. People are always asking for moral support and prayers and the topic of discussion is not always about firearms. What could be more human than that?

I recently signed up for Facewhatever - because it's the best way to sell stuff locally without resorting to Classifieds or Ebay.

Otherwise - it is more than an annoyance. It runs 180deg in opposition to my biologically determined way of dealing with the world/people...

Over here in jolly old England the police can check your face book account if you apply for a firearm license, just in case you have said something anti social, hence I'm not a FB member.

Very true, we have lost a lot of interesting and experienced levergunners, sometimes just because of others intolerance and lack of live and let live.... :(

I'm still a newbie on here even though I've been a member for a year or two. I don't post very much, but when I did I felt very welcome. I do come on here almost every day to see the latest news and to look at what the guys are up to, like the Marlin Pete44ru is working on, great stuff. I really like seeing the levers you all have and what you do with them. I'm more of a collector than shooter, but if I lived in the country I'd probably shoot a lot more.
It does kind of sadden me when feathers get ruffled amongst the flock, because is seems to be a let down of the spirit of things. I'm sure we all enjoy our levers and to bicker over trivial matters and have someone leave because of it ......I don't know.
Summer is a busy time and I reckon people, including myself, have lots of other things to take up their time, so maybe that's part of it.
AND, like it or not, some folks are just darned hard to get along with. There now, I've had my say!
