I know this is political but it could also be the end of this forum.

Unfortunately, a few of us WILL comment on the feedback site, but many will think that by staying away from the debate, they will remain 'anonymous'. (As BlaineG pointed out, there are few 'gun owners' who haven't gotten findable, if for no other reason than their web browsing history, travel patterns, other outdoor hobby purchases, etc.) Of course the reality is that the latter group will not only fail to stop the bad law from being enacted, but will in the process throw their fellow 'sportsmen' under the bus. That's been the pattern for decades.

Hopefully I'm wrong and being overly pessimistic, but not all gun owners are like the ones on this forum - many are uninformed, or don't support firearms other than the kind they personally own, or feel they are special, and 'too busy' to participate in the preservation of freedom. I've seen guys carrying new Brownings out of gun shows who were too cheap to pay for postage to send out a letter to their congressman who we just typed up for them for free.

Honestly, do you really think it would be worth wasting your time to make a comment anyway! Vocal Opposition to his policies has worked so well for us this far, RIGHT!

Of course it is. Floods of comments have effect on agencies and representatives both. Everything must be answered. Always. Where and when you don't respond, that is where and when they win.

What part of We Hold These Truths To Be Self Evident...etc do you not understand? Note that it does not say they are true, it says you will BELIEVE they are true and act accordingly.

As the British, Australian, 1930s German, and many other people around the world have discovered.
The government cannot subjugate its people while they are well armed and in a position to communicate and organize a resistance.
First they disarm you and take away your ability to organize. Then they rewrite your constitution and laws and use the media to say what they want. After disarmament they can say
99% of the people in this country have given up their guns, which proves that American people no longer want to be a lawless armed society living by the gun, therefore we, the government, in the best interests of the people, have decided to rewrite the constitution to reflect this by removing the right to keep and bear arms.
In order for this scenario to happen the first thing they have to do is stop people like us spreading this information to the masses.
In Britain and Australia it is already too late, we are disarmed and subjugated already.
Bob

C'mon guys, man up. If you don't have the courage to do something as little as writing a comment, well, I guess when they come and take your guns away you'll deserve it.

I just read the executive order proposal and can't make much of it. I may be a simpleton but it seemed mighty vague to me on the electronic transfer of unclassified information. It seems more than just gun owners could be in trouble. Seems like the media could be in trouble doing the nightly news.

I'm sure we're all on some list anyhow, so why worry about it. Just let me know when we march.

Being in the business through the Carter and Clinton era I have seen many back door anti-gun initiatives come out of those regimes but nothing like what I am seeing with the Obama admin.
I am reluctant to get into the details but because of the ever changing rules it has been difficult for us to stay in compliance. I big part of why we moved two years ago was because how the rules are interpreted now.
If this one comes to be, gun folks will be more and more reluctant to share info.
