Stolen from the internet: The best entry in the draw mohammed contest was the two chalk outlines out front!

Add'tl comments.

If you're gonna light up an activity with AK's, shouldn't you pick an anti-gun state like Maryland or Connecticut? They picked TEXAS! There are grandmothers in TX that'll bust a cap on you as they're going by on their way down to church and then the liquor store.

Props to the cop that took them out. Fortunately he just has to do a statement and get some time off. There's a bunch of other guys 'n gals who are counting brass, taking pictures, etc. And some poor street cleaner that has to hose off the street.

Wait a minute, this is Texas. They may just leave the blood on the street as an example to others...

Blood on the sand or street does not last long here as something eats it.

That cop must be a dedicated shooter, probably a 3 gun or IPSC competition shooter. I heard on the news the perps had AK's and were wearing body armor. That pretty much means the cop had to make head shots with his duty gun. If that's the case I'm glad he's on the good guy side. :D

LOVE a story with a happy ending. Maybe next time they'll bring some friends to the party :D With FBI, ATF, and others there, it was nice to see a street cop get the job done. Well done Sir!

kudos to the good guys.

my second thought is that if the first two looters in Baltimore had gotten the same reception, there would have been NO RIOTS.

A trainer I know of on another forum said he was very familiar with that department and many of its trainers and SWAT people. He said they are a very well trained department.

The officer in question may in fact be a sport shooter, but the department overall is on top of its game.

Poor mshooting in LE is a training and leadership issue. It certainly shouldnt be taken for granted that all are mediocre shooters. Some departments are very interested in keeping their people sharp. I think it was LA SP that someone said has been averaging 4 shots per encounter with 90's % hits.

I've shot a lot of deer in the head with a handgun. I don't think terrorist heads are any different, or harder to hit, but I doubt they taste as good as venison.

I have read several different reports that vary in detail. Sidearms mentioned were a Glock .45 ACP or a 40 S&W of some type or a revolver (would be great if it was a Model 10 Smith & Wesson). The Officer was a Garland Patrol Officer...his unit was apparently blocking an entrance into the conference center. Bad guys drive up, get out and open up...an unarmed Garland ISD Security Guard was wounded in the ankle. The Officer returned fire killing both bad guys. I have read that he is a 60 year old with 38 years service on the PD. A revolver may have been used because of the his long term service. Regardless, a man well trained with a cool head and the desire to stop mad men made the difference...

Nothing official, but pictures from the scene look like one of them had a Kel-tec pistol caliber carbine, the foldup type, and the other looks somewhat AR-ish, but no telling really what at this point. It could even be a 22.

I used to work in Garland. Over the time, I had need of the Police a couple of times. Both times the officers were professional and very good at their job. I met several others when they picked up or dropped off prescriptions. Garland has a high quality bunch of Police Officers in my experience. The fact that the Garland Officer was that good with his firearm doesn't surprise me. I have been shooting at Target Masters gun range in Garland off of Jupiter Rd several times, and met some off duty Officers who were there shooting their personal firearms. The ones I talked to in there were quite good. In my opinion, it is not wise to give the Police in Garland any cause to shoot at you. They are very professional, and do not act as if they think you are beneath them in the dealings I have had with them.
