Chuck 100 yd started it so I'll put in my 2 cents.
As a kid my dad had a Gibson Model D garden tractor we used to grade a road and odd assorted tasks.
The Gibson was a garden tractor unlike a garden tractor one might buy from Sears. Years ago
(I'm told) it wasn't uncommon for a family to have a acre or two as a family garden. These
smaller tractors, Gibsons, Cubs and the like were the norm. There were even a number of
walk-behind types like Wheelhorse. The Gibson (at least) could pull a 10 inch bottom plow. I
don't exactly know what a bottom plow is but that's what my research tells me. Regardless
I saw this Gibson D at an auction and bought it to rebuild. Pulled down to the last nut and bolt
I repaired, replaced and painted my way to a tractor. I didn't have and couldn't find a push blade
for it so I made one. The front (cast) axle broke so I fabricated a new one out of plate steel. Brake shoes
were impossible to find so I made my own and had a brake shop rivet linings on. It is amazing the power
that 9 horse engine (rebuilt) has when run through a 3 speed transmission. The rear tires are the same
used on a pivot sprinkler system -westerners will know what they are- the front standard implement tires.
At a little over 800 pounds it pushes snow fairly well, all that it's used for.

I've got an old Ford 9N sitting out in the yard. Needs someone like you to give it tender loving care. Wish I had a place to put it in out of the weather. It has a big bucket on front and a gannon in the rear. Hasn't run in years.

Those old Gilson tractors could do a lot of work.
You did a great job of bringing her back to good shape.
Almost every one I have ever seen had tire chains on the rear tires. That tells me they saw hard service.

Bullard those one lung wisconsin's are good engines have run wisconsin twins and 4's on haying equipment years ago. Nice rebuild, danny

A Great restore on your tractor!
A Bottom plow is also known as moldboard plow; it is also commonly called a turning plow.

Primarily used to roll sod over and still a common practice for many gardeners.
The photo shows what my folks called a two bottom (bottom being the # of plows).

What BC in TN said. The bottom is the assembly that goes in the ground and is comprised of the frog
(The framework of the bottom) that the knee,mold board,shear and landside are bolted to (the other parts that make up the plow bottom). The plow in the picture is a two bottom plow.

I have seen more than a few Center Pivot Irrigation systems. Lindsey is the major brand out in the semi-desert of SouthWest Kansas. Those tires are necessary.

Thanks for the post. made Me think about My Dad's "Tiger" Tractor We had in the 1950's.I looked it up and found out a lot of information about them. it had a single cyl 10hp on it. Dad had a set of five gang reel mowers He pulled with the little Tiger. I was around five or six when He sold it and I can rember being pretty upset to see it go.
