VECTAN Ba10 powder?

Post by 1894cfan »

Is anybody here familiar with VECTAN Ba10 powder? How close is it to Winchester 231? How about any loads for light lead bullets in 30/30? Just scored a bunch of it and don't have a lot info on it. :(

Their reloading data site is here http://www.vectan.fr/UK/range-of-powders
Ba10 is a primarily pistol powder. I have used it in .357 magnum with ok results.

Here's a burning rate chart that puts BA10 (#6) faster than Bullseye(#10).
231 is way down at #40

Great
Thanks, guys.

Now, anybody here ever try using Ba10 for light loads in 30/30, .308, 30/06 using 100gr to 125gr lead bullets? All of my bullets are made with Lyman #2 lead, some plain base, some gas check. TIA

Sorry for dredging this up, but just took custody of said powder and weighted out the lighter Lee dippers and the .5cc one came to 3.8gr, so taking a Lee .309/113F bullet and 3.8gr of Ba10 in a 30/30 case ran it through my Win94. Looks like it'll turn out to be a pretty good plinking load if it shoots good, will know next week when I get up to the range. BTW, .3cc is 2.5gr, .5cc is 3.8gr, .7cc is 5.5gr and 1.0cc is 8.1gr.
