That's funny. The dachshunds are cool little dogs - I never realized until we had one. They are so tough and tenacious, aggressive in defending the house against moose or stray dogs of any size. They are rottweilers at heart. At the same time they are so incredibly tolerant of any rough handling the kids can dish out (they don't abuse, just pick them up and run around with them and stuff), and are the sweetest little dogs in the world.

This one was asleep in may lap while I was working on an article, and then kind of wormed off in his sleep. After a while, I looked over to see that it had crawled onto my shirt and onto the KPOS, so I snapped a picture.

Those exact qualities you mention of dachshunds are why we have had dogs with dachshund blood in our household for years. I've seen one of ours thoroughly thrash a possum twice her size :D Great critters.
