I NEED THE WISDOM OF THE GROUP.

Post by jeepnik »

I need to buy a firearm. Now I usually buy on impulse as I browse my favorite shops. Sadly for almost a year nothing has spoken to me. I need to buy a firearm.

I need to buy a firearm. I'm looking at one of my safes and there's an empty spot. I need to buy a firearm.

I need to buy a firearm. I'm starting to suffer from buyer's remorse. Oh not the usual type, mine's from not buying a firearm. I need to buy a firearm.

I need to buy a firearm. So, folks help me out. Throw out suggestions I don't care how far out there they are. I really, really, really, really need to buy a firearm.

This should do. You might not see another for sale for a decade or two. And it is definitely a lever rifle

I've got a couple of nice Ruger M77's: one in 308 and one in 30.06 that you should buy

I suggest a levergun in whatever revolver caliber that you own that doesn't have a mate.

If you have all that, then a levergun in a caliber one step up from what you have, e.g. 375 Winchester, which then gives you the excuse to buy dies, bullets and possibly a different powder to work up loads.

if you have all that (and I suspect that your armory has practically everything), then...
a black powder gun - a messy one, not one of those sissyfied easy to clean stainless ones! - so that it keeps you so busy loading, shooting and cleaning that you don't have time to worry about how to spend your funds before the onslaught of this year's Christmas presents.

If you don't already have one, a 45/70, as it has the biggest hunk of lead that you can throw downrange without breaking the bank like you would with the exotic big game calibers.

A decent 94, flat band 32 Win. special with period receiver sights or a well abused SAA 1965 .357 in good shooting shape?
Stories of both in Colorado. But maybe not

Red Ryder has a new 75th Anniversary BB gun. It's a sweet levergun with a saddle ring. Ammo is plentiful. :D

86s are nice, I just bought another one last week but Colt SAAs are better. Well sorta. They are what I usually buy, especially if they say COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER on the barrel.

+1 :D

I have one that is almost that old (my father's) and it still works great.

I have another that is 45 years old (mine) and it still works great too.

I have a third, and it is 16.5 years old (my son's) - its a family tradition! :D
