I use the 160 grain Big Lube .452 in my '73 Uberti & 1860 love 'em. I got a Lee 6-cavity mold, so it doesn't take a long time to cast up a bunch. I carries plenty of lube to keep the fouling soft, even out to the en of those 24-¼"barrels.

I use them in 38-40 and 45 Cowboy Special with black powder. Fantastic bullet and does what it is advertised....lays down lots of lube!

.45 Colt,
I have had experience with the .44 200 gr. and 45 Colt 250 Big Lube bullets in my rifles and they work really well with b.p. :D

Since I am a traditionalist of sorts, I do, however, in the .44-40, prefer the Accurate 43-215C which has the same nose profile as the original .44-40 bullet but carries additional lube for the 24" trip. Here's a pic of the 2 bullets side by side along with a bullet from an NOE mold.

And loaded compared to an original b.p. cartridge..

If you don't cast the Big Lube bullets can be purchased from
Whyte Leather Works He offers them for the .38-40, .44-40 & .45 Colt along with other calibers.
http://www.whyteleatherworks.com/BigLube.html

The NOE bullet is offered by Matt's Bullets but they are lubed with a smokeless lube.
One can order them unlubed and lube with a b.p. lube.
It's the .40-215RF
http://mattsbullets.com/

Unfortunately, no one that I know of offers the Accurate 43-215C bullets.
A mold can be purchased from http://www.accuratemolds.com/ . He also offers the same design for the .38-40 and .45 Colt.

BIG LUBE molds can be purchased from Dick Dastardly .....
