One shot.......one kill.

Post by Bullard4075 »

I speak with authority (and some recent experience) that
a 35 cal 225 Nosler at 2575fps can be a one shot killer.
The 15 yards took the drop calculations out of the picture
and the bullet impact "thump" was lost in the muzzle blast.
The wound channel was impressive and with an explosive exit
no bullet was recovered. No tracking was necessary which
was fortuitous as I was already cold and wet from the light rain
and gusting wind.Previous shots at standing targets had not
hit as expected and I was in a foul mood.
Still am.
Now I need a new chronograph.

Have a friend that did that recently. It was borrowed.

Last year a friend borrowed my Browning 1895 30-06 on opening day. At 25 yards, he shot a buck through the front of the chest. The heart exploded and vanished. The bullet stopped somewhere in the guts... never did find it. A few ounces of blood spurted from the entry wound due to the extreme pressure, then the buck just fell over, DRT. His feet never moved.
