A guy I worked with got a crane dropped on him

Post by 7.62 Precision »

I just did a some work for a company up in Nome, and called up to see about pay, and found out they had a crane tip over and fall across the cab of a truck.

The kid in the truck is a pretty good guy, and the company is pretty tight-knit - everyone friends, it seems, not just hands who happen to be on the same job; not one of these big outfits that doesn't care, so it is pretty tough not only for the kid and is family, but for everyone in the company. This is the kind of news that hits you like a punch in the gut, and I wasn't even there. There are a lot of people having a pretty rough time right now.

Any prayers would be greatly appreciated.

If he has a strong belief in God, he is sure to be safe. :)

From the pic it sure looks like a "no fault" kind of mining accident rather than the more normal "corners were cut" type.
(not that that particular company is that way, but industry-wide...)

Hope he recovers well.

I don't know who was in the crane or any details of the accident. I will wait until the investigations are complete before speculating on why it happened, but it is a very bad situation for everyone involved.

I have seen a lot of minor construction accidents that resulted in no injuries, but when I hear the words, "crane accident" it always scares me because when something goes wrong with a crane, people get hurt, hurt bad, and often lots of people, and they are rarely minor accidents.

I hate it when it's a young guy who has his whole life ahead of him. We all certainly wish him and his family the best.-----6

Prayers up; my NP's husband was placing roof trusses when the delivery-company's crane tipped into some soft soil, and all the trusses got 'dominoed' onto him. Fortunately he had no injuries, but cranes are dangerous...!

It's a miracle he survived that. I was looking at the pic in the first article and wondering if they had the outriggers deployed on the off side of the crane? If not that might make it negligent rather than otherwise.

In the photo, you can see that the outriggers were not deployed, and the crane is on rubber tires.

Prayers and good will sent. - From an old pedal and lever guy.

I've seen worse, up close.
