Always wanted one of those but my divorce last week says not going to happen. Just gave a Black "66" to my daughter and her fiancé along with a Fox double 12 and a Glock 26.

Remington got it right the first time...The 66 is the best of them all and was most popular... That's why the rest are rare...

My father in law had a Nylon bolt action .22; the only one of those I've ever seen.

My uncle has one of those. My aunt bought it used for him for his birthday. She had no idea what she bought, it was just a .22 rifle to her.

saw one at rock island auction from a huge collection of remington items, maybe it was a prototype -- it was a bolt action nylon .22 with an OCTAGONAL barrel, factory marked and documented ! so strange and odd looking that i bid quite a bit for it but wasn't even close to the final price.

Re: Different and rare .22 lever from the last 40 or 50 year
My very first .22 was a Nylon 66. I traded a hammer type 12 gauge double barrel shotgun for it in 1968, I think. I still have the .22 and as far as I can remember it has never malfunctioned. Back in the day (when I could see iron sights and you could buy a box of .22 LR for .50 cents) I very seldom missed with it.

As I understand it the Nylon .22 SINGLE SHOT bolt action is the rarest of all and bring a HUGE price if in even shootable condition. I have never even seen a picture of one. VERY FEW were made.

Re: Different and rare .22 lever from the last 40 or 50 year
I have a 76 I bought about 15 years ago for $180. Bought it at a gun shop while I was ordering my M6 .22 Hornet/.410. One of my best days of buying value. The 76 isn't perfect, pitting on the receiver cover and a chip out of the butt plate so I treat it as a shooter. The owner worked at the gun shop and owned several 76's, he was selling a couple that weren't perfect enough.
Now will confess to complete stupidity. At a yard sale around then I looked at a bolt action version, not singleshot, but tube fed new in box w/hangtags. Unfired. Perfect in every way. Seneca Green too. But alas, I was cash poor and the owner wouldn't go below his $350 asking price. I remember thinking it just wasn't enough different from the regular bolt actions, unlike the auto and lever. After all, I still have the 511X I bought new when I was 15. I'm sure it would have appreciated, but I really prefer shooters.
