RIP Lancer

Post by Hawkeye2 »

I lost my best friend of the last 12 1/2 years yesterday. Lancer, our English Setter (field breed) crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. We went through obedience school together and did Rally and Agility. He was an AKC Canine Good Citizen and a Therapy Dog. Lancer visited nursing homes and really enjoyed the children reading to him in the PAWS for Reading program at different schools and the library. I know I'll miss his enthusiastic greeting and demand to be taken for a walk whenever I come home. Thankfully our Airedale is a great comfort to us but even he feels the loss.

The day we brought him home:

Everyone thanks for the kind words. Our Airedale has really stepped in despite his grief to help fill the empty spot. We will be getting another pup, probably not till after the first of the year and the training cycle will begin all over again. The next one will be a therapy dog too, they have so much love to spare it wouldn't be right to deny them the chance to spread it around.

My wife's dog is at the vet overnight tonight. Slipped a disc and in a ton of pain. They really do become part of your family. I'm sorry for your loss... :(
