Carolina Cast Bullets quality?

Post by bluesman423 »

Anybody have experience, good or bad, concerning the quality of Carolina Cast Bullets?

I have been looking for a Ranch Dog .359 175 grain bullet mold for quite a while with no luck. Now I have found out that Carolina Cast Bullets sells this same bullet.

I know I can order a hundred to see but if they get good marks from you guys I would rather order 500.

I got some of his .432 diameter 265 Grain Ranch Dogs. Great looking bullets and owner was a good guy to deal with. Went through the gristle plate on one side of a 185 lb hog quartering towards us and came out the other side. Killed him quick.

Bought some specialized 9.3 castings from him. Always a good transaction and the bullets are as good or better than my own work. No worries buying from them.

Didn't shoot them at a match or anything, but some 0.375's I got were perfect in appearance (also a 'Ranch Dog' mould), and Carolina Cast Bullets was splendid in terms of communication and service (and price).

I'd not hesitate to buy 5,000 from them if I needed that many.

Thanks for the quick response guys ............... I will order 500 tomorrow .......... hopefully it will hold me over till I find a Ranch Dog mold .................. I have tried several cast bullets but the Ranch Dog sized .359 gives me the best accuracy out of my Marlin ........... this way I will be able to get it all loaded before my trip coming up

That is a mighty generous offer Tycer, I appreciate it. But it looks like the same boolit that another Levergunner sent me samples of to try. Those boolits were all over the paper, probably because I need them sized to .3595 for my Marlin and the ones I received were .358.

Do you know the as cast diameter of those boolits and with which alloy? I normally cast 90% wheelweights and 10% linotype.
