My (New to Me) 1894 .357

Post by johnny-xring »

Thought I'd tease you guys/gals about my Marlin. No--don't have it yet but it gets out of CA "time out" (still have the 10 days waiting here) so I'll pick it up this next week and try to get some pictures posted. I have plenty of factory ammo BUT was savvy enough to purchase these .38/357 molds earlier this year. I have the following: IDEAL (dual) 358425/358432, IDEAL 358429, Lyman 358156HP, and an RCBS 38 150 SWC. I also have a Lee 6 cavity 105 SWC and I think I have one more Lee but cannot remember what mold. Been awhile since I stuffed any .38/357 hulls but have plenty plus some CCI magnum primers (whew) and the dies. I was lucky enough to score the molds as a purchase from a friend who doesn't like to reload (his loss, my gain and a killer deal). I think the RCBS is a starter and then the Lyman HP. Hopefully they come out kind of big as cast.

Appears to be a 1982 (ser # and doesn't have the cross bolt safety, nice). Wow, I've got so many other reloading projects to finish/wrap up but I couldn't resist this one. Marlinitis set in badly. I've got a really cool one-of-a-kind 1894 45LC that also needs attention. Another thread on that one--it has a really cool story of creation.

So, I'm going to be busy getting this .357 1894 up to speed but thought I'd post this now. Report back later.

Sounds like a fun project, and you are nicely equipped to do the job. Congrats on the snag, and have fun, JX!
