Can't be so cold and wet, can it be?

How rainy can it get in Arizona, anyway?

I think the Phoenix area dust storms are one the true life events that Hollywood hasn't outdone oin dramatic portrayal.
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Theodore Roosevelt-

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?

That's what makes the south of Picacho Peak area of I-10 a death trap. Lots of dust and people driving 85 to 90 mph in it.

I thought that was the name of one of those guys that just got let out of Guantanamo...

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

I was born in Phoenix and refuse to use this term for these events. They were dust storms 50 yrs ago and are still dust storms today.

You know,
that movie deserved more attention than it got.
I remember sitting on the edge of the couch ( at the race to the finish )
saying to myself " don't die Hidalgo, don't die! )

I looked up Haboob. It's a dust storm of sorts. Why do you object to the name? I'm not being contrary just curious.

I remember a trip back to Orange County after a week's honeymoon at the Colorado River and dropping off the Chiriaco Summit (where's there a great Gen'l Patton Memorial Museum), and looking at this dark cloud that looked to be headed east... thinkin' this is going to eat the paint right off my '55 Chevy... and it turns out it was just the smog layer over Riverside! :P :P
