New Rifle

Post by Budd »

Hello

Well, Gentlemen, I done it. I bought a new rifle.

A few weeks ago, I wrote that I was considering a Marlin Cowboy in .38-55. Well because difficulty and high cost of the ammo I desided against it. I have been looking and I found a 94 Winchester legacy in .357 and a 24 inch barrel. It is in very good condition 85 to 90% condition. I hope to go to the Range soon and if it shoots as good as it looks I will be a happy shooter.

Congrats for your new rifle! Its a great rifle and caliber combination. The 357 does great things in long barrels and lets you practice cheap to polish your skills. There are great recipes around here if you reload for it.

Good shooting!

Welcome. I love .357 in my carbines, does the job, fun to shoot, and reasonable on price of ammo. Jim

Thanks for all your kind comments.

Been trying to send some picture as an attachment from a compact flash card and have had no luck in doing so. But it is a beautiful rifle and feels great and I want to get at least one picture of it on this Forum.

Any suggestions

Budd

welcome to the forum. congrats on the new rifle. If you want to send pics, save them to some share software like photobucket. Once saved there, click on the image size that says for forums under the pic you want to share. that will copy it for pasting here. Then , once back here, type in your text under this topic, click on Img below the subject line then paste your image. its as easy as that.

Legacy's are one fine rifle. I have one in 30-30, 26" octagon barrel.

Mine was one of the last made in New Haven, I bought it in 2005.

I have that very rifle, bought in 2004. It is quite accurate, and has a nice feel. I shot my highest score in silhouette with that rifle (37)! And it looks great.

The barrel is thicker than the 30-30 version because it's made from a blank sized for 44 mag and 45 Colt, which were also offered. So basically you have a bull barrel.

Good shootin'

good choice. for the same reason as you, cost of ammo and availibilty of it, i'm building a battery of levers for this same reason. a 95 src in 30-06, a rossi .357, with a 16" barrel. a henry .22, and a iac 1887 12 gauge. this should cover all my hunting, plinking, and defence needs from long guns. it might take me the next 30yrs. to afford them though. a repro bluderbuss wjll top it off as the altimate survival weapon
