1958 336rc 30-30

I started a thread a while ago asking for advice on lever guns and boy did I get. Well and was told to check out Canadian Gun Nuts and I found the rifle and the guy I bought from was a stand up guy and threw in 40 round factory, Lee dies and about 400 pieces of good brass all for 500

. So right now I'm waiting for the snow to die down so I can shoot this old gal but until then I plan on putting sling studs in it and maybe a Williams FP peep sight.

Great Buy on a grand old classic & you sure got a lot of goodies on the deal!
seen one here the other day, they was asking 475.00 for it

Agreed, sounds like you got a solid deal.

I used to shoot a Glenfield 30A (the economy version of the Marlin) and 150 grain Core-Lokts would give solid, tight groups every time.

hossehead glad you found the rifle you were looking for. That should take care of your rifle needs for a while, BUT it won't, you'll soon see another one you need just as bad. Enjoy it or them.

I bought and hunted with a Glenfield 30A last year...it's the best 336 that I have ever owned...old Marlin 336's are great rifles, sorry Winchester, way too many screws and springs for me... :)

Alright here's the best picture until the snow melts. I'll try to get out shooting but no promises considering it was -30 this morning.

Congrats on a nice rifle. You got a great price even without all the goodies added in!

If I remember right you were interested in deer and black bears? You got a dandy hunting rifle there. If your new to peep sights they are an easy learn. The secret is to look through the peep and concentrate on the front sight. Your eye will automatically center the front sight. There are options with the aperture. A small outer diameter and large hole will work well for hunting. No screw in aperture works fine and is best in low light. Folks call it a ghost ring set-up because the hole seems kinda fuzzy.

For cheap shooting the 30-30 is a good cast bullet shooter as well.
