Surgury Monday
My wife goes in for cataract surgery Monday morning on right eye, then two weeks later for the left eye. Doctor has excellent reputation, has done this for half the people in Yuma, still it's hard not to have some trepidation. Have her convinced to obey ALL the doctor's instructions to the LETTER, probably don't have anything to worry about it but I do anyway.

Re: Surgury Monday
A prayer won't hurt a thing, so, I'll send one up.....(how about a follow up?...they say I'm due for the same thing in a few years....they just noticed that I'm starting to grow them )

One of the 'better' surgeries that we have to offer people. Prayers up.

My wife had both her eyes done and sees better now without glasses than when she was in grade school! Colors are more vivid, too. I understand the trepidation, though. Prayers for your wife and her medical team.

Re: Surgury Monday
My wife had the same surgery in 2008. She was legally blind in one eye and almost blind in the other. Besides the cataracts surgery they replaced the lenses in both eyes. Since the surgery she has had great vision needing only reading glasses in the last couple years.
My wife has an allergy to any kind of codeine based meds and they gave her something with it the first time. She was quite ill. The second time they did not and she was OK.
By all means follow all the after surgery instructions. She'll love it.

My wife had it done several months ago. All went well and she now wears no corrective lens of any kind, has 20-20 vision and says colors are much more vivid.

I had both eyes done 2 years ago - piece of cake.
My biggest surprise was the day after the 2nd eye was done - EVERYTHING suddenly had sharp/bright colors, where before (the surgery) everything's color apparently had an ivory tinge, most likely a side-effect of my diabetes.
It was better than when that street corner rat cleaned my car's windshield !
CAVEAT: Tell her that, if/when she first goes outside @ night/dark, all the outside lights, especially at 100yds or more distance, will appear to have rays/streaks shooting away from the light bulb/source, in all directions.
The effect startled me, the 1st night, but had disappeared in a few days.

Re: Surgury Monday
Thanks to all of you for posting. I'm gonna get mine done when I get home from the next refuel. I feel a lot better about it now.
Dr says they have a new replacement lens now that corrects astigmatism. I'll miss the way Christmas tree lights have flares when I take my glasses of but I'll go for them anyway.

Re: Surgury Monday
Prayers up for a successful outcome.
Had mine done in August of 13.
I have never saw distances that crisp and clear as long as I can remember since before the surgery. Never wore glasses for reading or up close before, but now I do. Distance correction without lenses is now 20-15 for both eyes. What a major difference!
There was no pain after the 2 surgeries just a little bit of discomfort due to the incisions. Felt like a small piece of foreign matter in my eyes for a couple of weeks.
Do what the Doc tells you.

There's only one down side to this surgery that I see (pun intended). After the surgery she will be able to see better than you and will be able to outshoot you.

Re: Surgury Monday
Prayers sent. I see people come in all the time for pre and post surgery eye drops. So far, I have never heard anyone regret the surgery, and that says a lot to me.

Thank all you fellers for your kinds wishes and prayers. All is well so far, doc looked at it this morning and was pleased with what he saw, which is good enough for me. She gets checkup in a week, will post when we get results. She gets the other eye done two weeks from now. Best Wishes to all. Jerry.
