I know this is the type of post some of you guys hate ----------
but i had the Beatles song LEt It Be going through my head today --- so downloaded it on some kind of Beatles #1 compilation ------
There's not a stinker in the bunch .
Given the BEatles were only out for 8 years --- they produced an amazing body of work for that short a time period ----------
In 50 more years, the BEatles and a few others will still be enjoyed and listened to ------ not sure about the RIhanna's , Biebers and Katy PErrys of the world, but time will tell
------- heck , i never envisioned the rock bands of the 80's to be considered "classic rock" either
I grew up in the 80's and 90's ==== i never listened to this mess -- what is it that makes us gravitate towards old stuff in our middle age years
I know...I'm probably the only person in America that hated the Beatles. I listened to them on the Ed Sullivan show, and I thought they couldn't sing, and they needed to tune their guitars.

Oh man, Hippy haters still exist? Come on folks, this is great stuff here. You're probably just Elvis people. Here, let me help you out. "Love me tender, love me true......." Better?

I grew up on the Beatles, still have most of their vinyl albums.
I DETEST Elvis. What a waste of blubber! HE couldn't sing worth a darn.
Not to mention the ess-o-bee died on my birthday in 79. Since then nobody wishes me a happy birthday, they just bemoan the passing of a fat old toad named Elvis that OD'd and died when he fell off the shitter.
Streetstar,
Did you watch that 50th anniversary program of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan?
I watched it twice and generally enjoyed it. However I came away with two observations.
First Sir ... yuck ... Paul has gotten OLD, and his voice is gone.
Second Ringo hasn't aged a day in 35 years and sounds just like he always did, yet he's older than Paul.
Interesting.
Oh, and this is now the low quality level of the posts on Leverguns. Pathetic isn't it?

Give us a couple days, Joe, I'm sure we can lower the bar further. . .
If nobody else steps up, I'll see if I can find my article (with videos) about the Singing-Elvis Christmas Ornaments. It just isn't Christmas without stuff like that (oh yeah, and maybe a levergun under the tree).

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool country & western fan... I like almost everything that's actuallly in that genre; some of the stuff that's released as C&W just ain't, (Garth Brooks comes to mind, although most of his stuff is good). I'm very eclectic in what songs I like... which encompasses everything from Bach to ZZTop and crosses almost all genres! I might have included ABBA, but I'm at a complete loss to name a single song of theirs beyond "Dancing Queen" and like most other disco songs... well, 'nough said!
Some Beatles stuff is quite good... while most... as is most Elvis. Give me Eric Clapton or Jeff Beck on their own and I'm a happy camper. To me, Beck is a hugely inderrated guitarist, simply due to the range of musical styles he's mastered. Santana and the Moody Blues are among the many that I can listen to for hours.

I did preface the post by stating it was the type of post some are growing to dislike , giving folks a chance to cut their losses and duck out early
My own observations remind me of my girlfriend in 1989 claiming she "discovered" Led Zeppelin -- I corrected her and said - No, no-they've actually been around for a while now

Guys, I was actually referring to my own post, not this thread ...
I actually do like most music .... except gansta rap. That stuff makes the hair on my neck stand up.
I can even listen to some Elvis music and I just love ABBA. I think I have most of their music on vinyl, 8 track, cassettes and CDs. Oh, and they are making a reunion tour sometime in the future - - I wanna go.
Hey you know Elvis did several western movies, maybe they had lever guns in them

My dad listen to the original Hank Williams and mom listened to Elvis.

Better go ahead and make it 5. I am an Elvis fan, though not as much as I used to be. I never did like the Beatles much. I grew up on a lot of "oldies" music spending a lot of time with my grandpa. I've never listened to pop music, but always listened to the oldies and country music of every era. I can't call what's on the radio nowadays country, and I won't even turn the radio dial to a contemporary country station.

Liked Elvis as a kid. Beach Boys and the Beatles, still like them all. Saw Elvis in his last concert he ever gave. Had a leftover ticket. Threw it away when I moved. Wish I had it back, wonder what it would be worth?
Like most of the 60's rock, some 70's and 80' but not a whole lot after that. Listen to some country, mainly when the other half has it on, but do like Garth, and Reba and some Strait

I grew up in the 60's and 70's, I hated the Beatles, They weren't cowboy enough for me. With me it's Country all of the way, Real Country, not that warned over pop they call country now.

Life is very short, and there's no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend.
I have always thought that it's a crime,
So i will ask you once again.
Try to see it my way,
Only time will tell if i am right or i am wrong.
While you see it your way
There's a chance that we may fall apart before too long.
We can work it out,
We can work it out.
