2002 Dodge Grand Caravan outside rear view mirror

Post by flightsimmer »

Does anyone know how to remove the glass mirror from the housing?
My left mirror shakes in the wind while driving but the right one is just fine.
My guess is you turn the electric mirror full down and insert something behind it
to unhook it, but I don't want to break anything so I'm asking the pro's.
Thanks.

The pics show a 99 and the OP is asking about an 08 so yours should be the same.
Kind regards,

A search on You Tube yielded this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMNFUUos8qY
Getting it off is pretty easy.

I would do a Google search and try to find a thread that tells how to change the mirror out. Either way, you'll probably have to take it off the car to repair the mirror. You might contact a few junk yards and get a mirror assembly for a decent price.

Good luck!

You might be surprised how cheap an auto glass shop will repair it for you. I think I paid 10 bucks to fix a truck mirror last time.

I had one a long time ago that did that 'wobble' thing (probably after I messed it up scraping ice off of it).

I used a bunch of that expanding 'Great Stuff' foam behind it, got in the car and finalized the adjustment just where I wanted it (by hand), and the next day trimmed off the stuff the exuded around the edge of the mirror. (Don't you all get jealous, just 'cuz I'm braggin' about my Master-Mechanic skills here...).

Of course back then nobody drove that car but me, partly because it had so many 'quirks' it was hard to drive. :D
