S&W MP 22

Post by Dewight »

My step so stopped by last night with one he won in a raffle. It was quite a cite thing. I offered to double his money ($16.00), but he declined that generous offer. Though I need one like another hole in my head, thinking it might be a lot of fun and be a compliment to my Browning 1911-22. Anyone have experience with one?

There's one here. I'm not terribly impressed with its accuracy, although it's plenty good enough for the .22 dueling tree at ~10 yards. Function has generally been great and it's only ever acted up a little late on days when a few hundred rounds went through it without cleaning.

Sweet Tooth won't give an opinion because she hasn't shot it on enough range sessions to feel that she's entitled to opinionate, but from what I've seen of her with it, things went about the same in her hands as what I've already related. I'll add that this is the only semiauto pistol out of dozens, in a bunch of calibers, that Sweet Tooth has been able to slingshot the slide on.

One of the big reasons I got mine was to allow subcaliber training for the centerfire M&P pistols. Externally, it's a near-twin to the M&P9 and even the weight isn't far off. Takedown and internals are much different, but that isn't of much matter if the outsides and controls match. There is a tiny bit of difference between the grip of the two with the small backstrap installed on the M&P9. I have too hard a time even detecting the difference to be able to articulate what it is. That there is a difference seems to be borne out by Sweet Tooth not having a bit of trouble operating the M&P22's trigger, but the M&P9 wants to naturally position her finger above the hinge of the trick safety trigger gadget.

I have one that I won in a raffle last fall. The accuracy is passable for plinking but it won't compare to a good bolt gun.
I've put a couple of bricks of the Federal bulk pack ammo through it without any functioning problems.
It is a fun toy but you can get a CZ bolt gun for that kind of money.
It would probably get a lot of use if I had some young'uns around.

I don't own one yet, but have shot one extensively in training. As a training gun, they are excellent, or a plinker.

As a target gun, get a Ruger 22/45 or a Mark II/III.
