gun barrels from the Arizona and Missouri

Post by w30wcf »

Another great moment in historic preservation; dedicated on 12-7-13 and not mentioned by the media or our government. Notice the date of the setting of the barrels, the anniversary of Pearl Harbor

I was just wondering if I could get hold of one of them for a 'wildcat' project I've been thinkin' on... :D

Wow! What a deal. And to think that didn't make any of the news that I see, while great gobs of trivia got repeated ad nauseum.

I always wanted a turret of 16" 50-caliber guns, mounted on a barbette, in my front yard, to deal with, or ward off pesky salesmen, etc..

I sent my buddy in Tucson your link and he replied that it was news to him and he reads the paper every morning.

He visited me recently and we spent a day aboard the Wisconsin BB64 a Iowa class Battleship.

My father toured the South Pacific for three years aboard the BB56 .

Thanks for the heads -up

John,

Thank you very much for that post. I'm sure we all have the same feelings when we see this memorial come together.

One of the Arizona bells is at Pearl Harbor, the other has been at the University of Arizona since the early 1950s.

Hats off to all who played a part in the making of this monument.
