Anyone had any recent, or not so recent dealings with San Pedro Saddlery?
A shootin' buddy ordered " Big Ed's" Quigley belt to go with his .45-90 Sharps over two years ago and still hasn't received it even after numerous contacts and attempted contacts.
He just sent me this timeline and I intend to post it on SEVERAL forums.
The link with the comments about "Big Ed" was...Shiloh Rifle.
The business in question is...
San Pedro Saddlery,
1108 E. Fremont Box 542,
Tombstone, Az. 85638,
540-457-3616, Fax: 520-457-2265.
I ordered the Quigley Cartridge Belt, med brown 2 tone with antiqued nickle
buckle, 45/90, 42" size. Order # 17423971, ordered via internet on 1-27-06. Paid
$ 140.00 ($ 35.00 discount), shipping $ 8.00, by Visa ( have a copy of bank
statement with this amount indicated).
Called 10-30-06, talked with someone concerning this order...was in the system
and look into it.
Before this call, I wrote to them on 6-30-06, again the status of this order.
On 3-25-06, I emailed them and "Big Ed" responsed on 4-11-06 would let me know
when to expect the Belt ( none came ).
March 1, 2007, I emailed them with my cancellation of my order and having my
Visa account credited the amount of $ 148.00, expressing all the delays; etc.
"Big Ed" responsed on 3-2-07 with a promise to get it finished in two weeks and
do an extra special job... on 3-2-07, I stated an additional two weeks would be
alright, but only an additional two weeks.
Made another call to San Pedro Saddlery, no one answered...this was in June
2007...and another email in October 2007, no response this time.
That's covers my attempts at getting a Cartridge Belt.
Any of you around Tombstone that might be close enough to rattle Big Ed's cage would sure be appreciated.

"Gun control" isn't about guns, it's about "control".
It's my understanding that a business isn't supposed to bill for a Visa purchase until the merchandise is shipped. Maybe someone could set me straight on that.

It's easier to fool people than it is to convince them they have been fooled.
Big Ed's foibles are well known over on the SASS Wire. He makes a really fine product for exceedingly reasonable prices. He also makes products branded for others. Those, and his back order keep his one man shop overflowed w/work.
I wanted a pair of his "Slim Jims" for my '51 Navys. But rather than simply blindly placing an order, I checked out his bone fides. I bought mine from Texas Jacks in Fredericksburg, TX. Ya know what? They were less expensive AND I had then in 4 days
MAYBE they ain't as nice, but... ya know what? Since at least Roman times they've had a nifty phrase for just incidents. My two years of Latin provides a rough translation of: "Buyer Beware." If your pard had asked my opinion BEFORE he ordered, that is exactly what I'd have told him. And even thoough I know of others with similiar issues, I wouldn't go about declaiming a business, uninvited like.
One thing I am sure of, is that when yer pard gets his belt, it'll be a quality piece.
Forgive me, my patience is thin today, but I have to ask; What EXACTLY is it you expect of us?

No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
I have heard that his health is not the best. I've bought several San Pedro items from a fellow that goes by the handle " Mr. Bisley" on Auction Arms and Ebay. Last time we spoke he told me that Ed was having health issues and was haiving trouble filling orders. True or not I don't know but Mr. Bisley/ Rick was a good guy to deal with and I believed him.

My experience with "Big Ed" is that he is a fraud!
We agreed to exchange a firearm for leather............he received the firearm...........I received NOTHING!!!........and this was 2 years ago!!!!!
I send him Emails every few months and keep getting the "I know, I'm sorry, I'm working on your leather right now!" stories..........and NOTHING HAPPENS!!!

Funny, he still has time to peddle his goods on ebay. Maybe he's working on his backlog between listings.
I wasn't EXPECTING anything from amyone here, just asking if someone happened to be close enough to Tombstone to drop in and see how he's doing, and ask how he's coming along filling backorders since he "Took the business in a different direction" Last October.
My Pard has pretty well given up on seeing his belt, or his money refunded. Too bad because what of Big Ed's work I've seen in photos in indeed excellent.
When I order leather it's from Doug Prudden out in Missouri. Great price, wet moulded custom holsters, and usually under 2 weeks from order to receipt. Not bad considering your holster, belt, or bag is still flat cowhide when you place your order.

Plus one! I saw the picture of Jason's canvas gunbelt and wanted one but couldn't get hold of Big Ed (luckily). Jason turned me on to Mr. Bisley and I got in touch with him. He told me about Big Ed's health problems, and hooked me up with a Big Ed holster and canvas belt he had, perfect fit for my new Ruger New Vaq and my waist. Big Ed had made the holster for himself and signed the back, but sold it to Mr. Bisley/Rick. Rick is a good guy to do business with. Jim (Steve Young did the Ruger for me too, he does more than Rossi!)
