Marlin 1894CB 32 mag being made again?

A friend of mine who runs a gun store says he is going to order four distributor exclusive, octagonal barrel, full length mag, 1894CB in 32 H&R magnum rifles... including one for me!

I don't understand why he thinks it is possible... but I will take it when it comes.

Anyone know anything about this?

Why don't you ask "which" distributor has an "exclusive"?

I would make sure he got an actual order confirmation when he placed his order. There's nothing, on any, of the distributor sites concerning that model and caliber.

I read somewhere that Marlin`s web site was showing them BUT it was a mistake. Their web site was not updated and the rifle has not been made for several years. You could give them a call to make sure. Good luck!
Possibly a clean up run to use up excess parts like Ruger does from time to time.

A light levergun in .327 would be a nice woods walking gun. The .327 is easier to reload for than the .32-20, gives ballistics that are for all practical purposes, the same. It would handle coyotes, deer, pigs, and annoying illegal growers in the woods. Extra ammo is light, it could be used in .32 H&R, and a pound of powder for it will last for around a thousand reloads. The .327 revolvers are not too ugly, and a matched pair is always useful.

It's not really that heavy.

I have the same rifle, with octagonal barrel, in .22 caliber... it's called a Marlin 39a.

Here is the scoop for today’s jaunt to the ShotShow and the Marlin Booth.
According to my sales rep (John Cason) several models will be making a reappearance.
Additional production efforts will now heavily focus on the 1894 and 39A product lines.
The fit and finish on the models on display are MILES ABOVE what was here last year.

It's not really that heavy.

I have the same rifle, with octagonal barrel, in .22 caliber... it's called a Marlin 39a.

FWIW, the Marlin 39a isn't the same rifle/action as the Model 1894 - which is much bigger (thicker) & heavier than the M39a.

For a minute there, I thought you had one of the rare Model 1894's made in .22 WRM (Magnum).

I doubt Marlin will introduce the 32 Mag ever again. They took a licking on the original run. My Brother had one and its was a dog. The piece had feeding issues big time. Seems Marlin decided to use a 38/357 lifter carrier. He finally got it to feed right by using JB Weld and building the carrier ramp properly for the smaller 32 cartridge. The piece is extremely case length sensitivity. And it only likes one bullet profile. His was at the Factory for service longer than he owned the piece. He finally got Marlin to admit they used a 38/357 lifter/carrier.
If you slowly ran the lever it would work, any speed and it was jam -City.
They may have gotten the issues corrected later in the Run, who knows now that Remington has them.
I would not pay good money for a dud that marlin would like to forget.

I had one back in 2008 and never had any problems with it feeding and I was loading Hornady 85gr XTPs and 100gr XTPs along with 90gr Sierra bullets. The only problem I had with it was a failure to extract and Marling send me a new extractor and fixed it right up. I was getting 1750fps using H110 and the 85gr bullet. It shot great out to 100 yards which is as far as I tested it. I only sold it as I couldn't hunt small game with it (rimfires only) and it was too small for deer in my opinion and I have a Marlin 357 that would do anything it would do and be enough for deer as well and the 357 was shorter and lighter in weight vs. the 20" octagon barrel on the 32CB rifle. Cabelas had just opened a store in Gonzales, LA and 5 of them on the rack. Wish I had known then what I know now and bought them all. I paid $500 for it. I did make money of it selling it but not $2000.

just bought a 112 yr old 1894 in 32-20 from a cowboy action shooter getting out because of personal illness... the seller said it is easy to find a buyer for a 38-40, but difficult to sell a 32-20.

So, leverguns in 32 mag and 38-40 sell easily, and 32-20 does not. Strange...

I don't know if it translates but my Davidson Winchester Deluxe TD long barrel is surprisingly barrel heavy. I do find mine, a 32-20, to be a dandy cartridge and the little 32 Mag would really sing! This caliber range is real nice to shoot, got some punch, low recoil for geezer shoulders, and the octagon's wide flat is surprisingly good at getting a rapid sight picture!

I still shoot factory loads that are fairly mild and nowhere near the 32 Mag.
