Hello Everyone! My first New Commercial Lever Gun Purchase!

Post by Spaxspore »

Hello Everyone.

First off i like to say i do own a few lever guns.. Just not any new ones... nor ones i can shoot..

Image

Image

Image

So any way; ive been interested in getting a new lever gun for some time.

Ive been wanting a lever gun that i could actually shoot, looked at the brand new marlins, mossbergs... and finally decided to buy a big boy in .357mag.

Well to make a long story short; i liked it so much.. i bought a Golden boy to go with it for even more enjoyment.

Without further ado - pictures!

Wow! With the condition of your originals, I do not blame you for not wanting to shoot them too much. Good choice to get a couple of modern ones you can blast away happily with.

Either can't find ammo for them (i do not reload.. yet), or they are to valuable.

I have a beautiful 1920s era Model 1892 saddle ring carbine in 30-30, that i am afraid to shoot because it may hurt the value. The rest is either turn of the century or back. Also most have been in the family for at least a half of a century so they have reached heirloom status.

I do shoot cowboy loads through my Winchester Model 1873 musket from time to time:

Oh my goodness ! --- Superb collection ! -- the photography is excellent as well

I probably wouldnt shoot any of your ancient mariners either (except maybe that 1895) -- the pair of new Henry's does look like a fun combo :)

I know a lot will disagree with me , but i'd probably refrain from shooting that '95 too much also if it were mine. -- (although i took great pleasure in firing the first rounds through 2 NIB and 40 year old Pythons at one time)

Plenty of Miroku's made Winchester's and Browning's out there for shooters

Welcome! Great post, great pictures. Love the guns, new and old. Especially dig Tigger, who reminds me of our great cat "friend" brought from New Mexico with us some years ago. Gone now, but still missed.

You're gonna fit in fine. Kirk-like quality photo's (witch means the best!), nice guns, and animals too.
Had a cat for many years that was Tigger's twin. He was a character to say the least. Then we got "Fatty", a reincarnated grumpy old man. Now, somehow we inherited Hector, a huge thing with more character than is good for everyone concerned. Cat's are great.

Very nice photos and levers. I'm so glad I'm not fortunate enough to have fine specimens like that...it would drive me crazy
Gotta shoot!

An acquaintance brought a Sharps for me to identify a while back. It was a .54 Sharps papercutter in great shape. I told him I'd help him make up some paper cartridges to shoot but he was too scared due to it's age. Ugh! I want to shoot it! :D

Kirk, that is a gorgeous TD you have there. Love that wood and checkering. I think that wood can really make a vintage Winchester. Speaking of nice wood, I thought you might enjoy this Winchester Model 53 32-20 made in 1929 with special wood ...

Ok I was fine, already took My blood pressure meds and settled down to see what's new on Leverguns.com. I am sure there are more Fine Old Winchesters out there but with the Collections that KirkD and Kirk w/o the D have I'm not sure. I was doing fine then "U" Kirk w/o D had to post a pic of that 73 paired with a Beautiful Colt. I am assuming 44wcf by the looks of the ammo. I can already see that I'm not getting into this Competition. I would hate to be a Judge in this thread. Both excellent Photographers to say the very least. Mas Mas Por favor.
