Hey guys: I lost the ejector collar while disassembling my 92. Flew off into space under spring pressure...can't find it. Called Rossi and they will not send or sell me a replacement, they said it is a "restricted part"!?!
Does anyone know where I can source a replacement or fabricate a functional substitute?
Thanks!

They will sell their restricted parts to a gunsmith, usually. Do you have a sympathetic dealer who will order it for you? Sometimes they ship right away, sometimes they take a while.

What in the heck is a part like that a "restricted" part for...?????
It isn't a part like a receiver, where you can use it to make a 'gun'.
It isn't a high-pressure or other dangerous part, where mis-installing it could blow the gun up (is it?).
It isn't a super-precise part that requires some high-tech or high-skill to fit it properly (is it?).
Seems silly to me.
Then these days LOTS of things seems silly to me. Guess I'm getting to be an old curmudgeon type.

Thanks 7.62, I'll call around to see if a dealer would order for me. What a hassle, had I known Rossi is like this I would have held out for a Marlin. But definitely thanks for the advice.

it is the replacement parts, or the difficulty to obtain, that have kept me away from Rossi...me like Marlin... :)msdb wrote:Thanks 7.62, I'll call around to see if a dealer would order for me. To me to. They prefer that you return the gun to them for warranty work.AJMD429 wrote: Seems silly to me.
Even the stocks are restricted - I asked about ordering one once and they first wanted to ensure I was a gunsmith, then they had me talk to someone who expounded at length upon the difficulties of installing one. Then he told me the price, at which point I politely said, "no thanks," and ordered a replacement rifle instead. If I remember right, they wanted somewhere around $250 for the buttstock.
On the other hand, they seem to be much better about warranty service than they used to be, from reports I have heard, and most parts are not overly expensive. I called to order a replacement screw for a customer's rifle once, and they would not accept payment, but sent them for free.
