My Chinese pal bailed me out again.
Had a bad door lock actuator on the BMW. It was stuck in the double lock position which means it won't open from the inside or outside.
Means I would have to remove the door card from inside the car after removing the back seat completely and probably bend or break it.
Today I revved the engine to get the full 14v from the alternator and pushed the unlock button and it popped!! It was slower than the other locks but the door is open. I'll have the new actuator installed in and hour instead of all day.
I put it down to my Chinese pal who shows up occasionally. You might have met him once or twice, Pur Dum-Luk.

My Wrangler has Mexican door locks - and windows too. Manuel.
Of course, I could still break my hand and not be able to open them...

The only power stuff I aapreciate are a/c in the summer and heated seats in the winter! But, I know them heating elements are gonna stick in the "ON" position come some summer!
(Assembled in TX w/parts from Canada, China, Mexico & the US)!
I got 2 years and 15K left on the warranty... then I might trade for... wait, hopefully, by then I'll have my '55-½ p/u road-ready!
At least it was -9 like when my Manual door lock malfunctioned and locke me out, and the keys IN!

I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

Carl, one of the automotive regrets I've had was not to get the bright yellow 2002Tii in 1974 when It was $4,600 bucks....I got the Audi Fox for about 60 a month less (which was big money back in the day)

My 2004 JEEP has arm-strong windows and doors...anything power comes with an additional charge, to be applied later, usually by the 2nd or 3rd owner... :)

My TJ has two options, radio and cruise control. No AC is a pain occasionally but not necessary in our climate.
Idrove some Brit stuff for years. We cringed if anything used a switch. Lucas, invented intermittent wipers and headlights!

Nah, he's not, he just needs power steering! Or maybe power assisted viewing.

Yea but it wasn't intentional. I used to have a '71 Triumph TR6. Got about 50 miles to the repair. Couldn't keep it on the road long enough to determine gas mileage.

My first BMW was a '71 2002. I started out to buy a new Cuda and the only one the dealer had had been vandalized so I walked next door to the BMW dealer and road tested the 2002. Same price $3800. Drove it 13 years until the wife told me either the car goes or she does. I picked wrong.new pig hunter wrote:them new-fangled cars with power stuff this-n-that ......

Re: My Chinese pal bailed me out again.
I only parked like that to get the full-side perspective of the car against the background. See the Blue Ice Cafe back there ?? Some local San Fernando Valley 2002 guys, we'all are planning a gathering there.
So, no, I don't normally take 2 parking spots. The funny part: that parking lot is about 3 acres huge .... and that weekday afternoon there were maybe 3 dozen cars in the entire lot. My normal routine is to park way the heck out where nobody else parks, I don't want some bonehead inflicting another door ding.
williamranks, yep, you picked wrong .... LOL !! I purchased that BMW new in November 1974, still driving it. It is the tii (fuel injected) version and was $7,200 out the door. Best money I ever spent. I didn't get married for another 12 years, and since then the wife has only driven it twice, she is not allowed to. These days, she doesn't like the less-comfortable ride so she doesn't ride with me. The wife knows better than to even think about me ever getting rid of the car.
Cheers,
Carl
