That's a pretty neat modification to drain that crappy ethanol fuel from the carburetor on your Honda generator. I would never have thought of anything like that!
I have that same generator, but I get around the ethanol fuel problem by using fuel that has no ethanol in it. It is a 93 octane fuel sold by a local distributor as "racing fuel" for off-road use only and costs a little over $6 a gallon. I started using it on the recommendation of a local chainsaw dealer who advised using it for all small engines, especially two strokes like leaf blowers, chainsaws, weed eaters, etc. I add Stabil fuel stabilizer and do not have fuel problems with any of my small engine powered equipment, even if it sits unused all winter.

I fought the bad gas for the last time about 5 years ago, this is not the same as the one I have but if you depend on one for power outages you might look into one of these:

Use racing fuel, or get some avgas from your local airport. Ethanol is not allowed in avgas.
