I finally got me some!

Post by rossim92 »

.22lr ammo that is! I have been looking all over kingdom come on the internet and all the local stores and gun shops. As you know, they are either out or skyhigh in prices and shipping charges. Yesterday i went to dick's sporting goods by me, and as usual they were sold out. On the way out I saw a sign by the door that said we ship your orders free to the store. I went online and they had winchester .22lr hollow point copper coated 333 bulk pack for $19.00. I didn't see a way to order, so i called my local store and talked to them. They said we don't hold ammo for anybody  , but the truck comes in on Friday mornings at five. Be there when we open up at nine AM, and you will probably be able to get some. Well., sure enough I was the first at the door with my son and his buddy. They had six bricks and the shelves and we walked out with one brick apiece. My son gave me his. :P The other good thing is i work third shift and get off at seven A.m. and can be there when they open up at nine. Hope this works for me in my future ammo needs.

Seriously? The government is not buying up .22 LR, the people are. People are hoarding it and speculators are buying it. Eventually demand will fall and supply will resume.

If the government were trying to prevent an armed rebellion, why would they concentrate on rimfire ammo? If they were trying to make us powerless to feed ourselves, wouldn't buying up shotshells be more effective? Or garden seed for that matter.

You have your opinion, and I have mine. I'm a Life Member of the NRA, but, they always seem to give up a little every time they negotiate a deal. Billions of gubment bought rounds (over and above the military use) can be proved....with .22 being the most popular caliber, why would you think they are not interested in drying that source up, as well?

Probably due to my shortsightedness, but I can't see a single reason for them to buy up all the ammo that they are buying. That leaves me with an uneasy feeling.

Tin foil hat time. Lots of this talk going on over on ARFCOM. It's the "Neck Beard Army's" fault.

There's plenty of expensive "Match" grade ammo available. It's just the inexpensive (or what used to be) hunting/plinking ammo that seems scarce.

Nope, just trying to lighten things up a bit. Stuff seems to be gettin' a little too serious this holiday season. I've learned you can't control people, places, or things.....just your attitude and actions. :D

I guess if 22 was drying up along with everything else, I might could buy it. But there are plenty of shotshells and centerfire rifle cartridges on the shelves, although at high prices now. The American Rifleman article explains it. Do you think the NRA is lying? Are the ammo companies lying?

I'm hardly buying any ammo in recent years. I have plenty for most my guns and not enough for a few. But I can make do til the shortage is over. It is the behavior of consumers acting like they will never see a brick of 22LR again that is fueling this madness.

If this keeps up, I might sell some of my ammo and restock later.

I was in my local Wally World last week and most of the slots for long gun ammo were pretty full. Not much handgun ammo, and there were 2, 100 round boxes of CCI Mini Mags. Much more than I've seen in the past.
Several weeks ago I was in Alabama and went to a WM there and their stock was complete except for the .22 rimfire.

:P The NYT just wrote a piece that has completely exonerated Hillary from Benghazi. So, I guess if you have read a published piece on ammo, it MUST be true.

 Maybe Hillary is buying up all the .22 ammo.
I see lots of it at the local gun show for very high prices. Nobody was buying it either.
I hope the speculators get stuck with it and have to sell at a loss.

About 40 years ago I worked for a Ford tractor dealership. The owner learned that there was going to be a sisle (sp?) shortage and baling twine was going to be in short supply and prices would sky rocket.
He bought up a couple truckloads and filled the warehouse with the stuff. He was going to make a killing on it!!
Well, shortly after they came out with plastic twine and no one wanted the old twine and it sat there and rotted.
A few years back a friend did the same thing with antifreeze. He bought up several 55 gal. drums.
Remember when you could not find antifreeze?
Well, his sat outside and the drums rusted and he lost his butt on it.
Things will come around to normal at some time. Wait it out.

This is the best kept conspiracy since the Kennedy assisination...denying the American shooting public of .22 ammo while leaving all the more lethal loads on the shelves...and "they" are all in on it...
- Every level of Government
- Ammo Manufacturers
- The NRA
- Walmart
- The Benghazi attackers
- The NYT
- Secret Conspiracy Ammo Buyers (or SCABs) working for the Government
- The United Nations
- Tin Foil Manufacturers of America

Occasionally an outsider cracks the inner circle, "Pssst buddy...get here when the truck pulls in and you can get some .22 ammo before the SCABs buy it all. They don't want you or your teenagers shooting this lethal stuff...special directive from The United Nations and New World Order."

I've just scratched the surface...this is going bigtime!

However, now that I have exposed this menace I am moving on to something closer to home...The Cash Shortage!

I just know the Government is buy up all the Cash and that's why I can't seem to get much of it...Stay Tuned!

(just poking fun...meant as humor, please take it as such)

Wow Blaine, you just accused the NRA of writing a coverup piece comparable to the NY Times. Why are you a lifetime member? I just don't know what to say now. But some of the other responses are hilarious!

.22 ammo. Targetmaster, as we speak, has two hundred cases, not bricks, from Remington, Federal, CCI mini-mags, and the new CCI 100 rd packs.

They will only sell 22 ammo to regular customers and others buying guns.---6

Just trying to get insight into your paranoid mind. You served for a government you do not trust. You have given money to an organization and industries you claim to be complicit in helping the government disarm us all without presenting any evidence for your position. Others made far more fun of you than I did.

I'm no longer concerned what you think either. Your mind can rot in your delusions for all I care.

The ironic thing about all the .22 buying is that in the book One Second After(great, if terrifying read) considered the round the most negotiable form of currency after everything else went to the can. I'm currently bereft of a .22 rifle, but I've kept the 100 or so rounds I have left because... well, because. That, and I'm sure i'll have another one of these days.

 Your StrawMen aren't any more impressive than you are 8) All YOU offer are facts not in evidence. I'm glad to hear that you trust your government. That would be the government that holds all the strings and and issues all of the permissions for ammo companies to do business. The NRA can only be changed from the inside. This would not be the first time they have thrown gun owners under the bus in order to make a deal. I don't suffer from delusions, and mind rot....I savor every second of them
