BLR lightweight 7mm-08

Post by bar j »

I'm thinking of getting a BLR lightweight 7mm-08 for my kids to use. I have a older steel frame 308 that is very accurate (consistent sub 1" 3 shot groups at 100y). How do the newer allow frame guns compare?

Since the bolt locks at the front, the new alloy guns are just as accurate as the steel frame ones. On the other hand they are lighter and so the recoil is generally a little sharper.

I have 2 BLR's, both alloy frames. One is a 358 Winchester takedown and the other is a 300 Win Mag. Both are better than 1 MOA (off a solid bench) shooters with the right loads.

^^^^Like he said, the bolt locks into the barrel, not the receiver, so strength is not an issue and accuracy is great on every BLR I've owned.
Kind regards,

I don't know about the BLR, but the 7mm-08 is fairly mild in the recoil department, and if you handload, you can make it a very comfortable rifle to shoot. I like it due to the wide variety of bullets and powders that my bolt gun in that caliber will shoot. I load it way down for my son since he is recoil sensitive. It is still accurate enough to keep 3" or less at 100 yards even with the low power loads.
