These are two favorite muley hunt spots of mine.

Actually, you don't need a 270 to be successful. Take note of wind direction before undertaking the stalk and walk softly. I rarely shoot farther than 125 yards or so.

30-30 is a keeper!

Oh, but a Winchester Model 70 Super Grade .270 is soooooo nice to hunt with!!!

Real beautiful country there, TR. Looks like a little Heaven on Earth...as pretty as ever I've seen. Where in SD? I thought SD was all wheat fields! haha on me!!!!

south dakota, especially the badlands, and I are spiritually connected. I just feel part of the land every time I travel there. I would live there if I could

It is beautiful. It has been too long since I walked the prairie earth and smelled the five essense of sage. The feel of the high sun on my back and endless vistas to tantalize my eyes.

I too have a longing of sorts that is hard for some to understand to be in such desolate places. I have a fond memory of sitting on top of a hill overlooking the Badlands of North Dakota with gun in hand dreaming of what was a different time in our land.

Some people look aghast when I speak of the treeless horizons of the Badlands.Being in New England one is used to seeing many trees as part of the landscape . The idea of a place without them seems to foriegn to many. But for some strange reason I relish the view.

Beautiful!

I could fall in love with the country in the top pic, but I think that part of the world spends too much of the year looking like the bottom.

Not trying to hi jack T.R. thread, but sometimes we forget how really lucky we are to live in country like this. Here are a few pictures of our favorite elk hunting area, taken about 40 min from the house in Southwestern Montana.

I'm in the opposite corner of the state - Vermillion. Flat as a pancake here although we do have some pretty good whitetail hunting. My son and I did take a couple nice muleys by Belle Fouche a couple years ago with the muzzleloaders. Beautiful country out there. My daughter is about 90% sure she's going to BHS this fall so I may give you a shout if I get to town.
