Original Colt Lightning Pump Rifle 38-40 Help needed
Got a really nice Colt Lightning Pump in 38-40. New 38-40 brass is too long to eject after. Being fired and you cannot eject loaded rounds a t all. Anyone here have any experience with these? Date of manufacture is 1889. Thanks mh

I'm having trouble visualizing an empty case that would be too long to eject, but I know we have some "Lightning" shooters here who can help. I'll bet they missed your post the first time, moody. Let's try moving it back to the top.

It sounds to me like the cart guides are either installed wrong or too tight. Notice parts #248 & #249.
let's say if they are installed, the left one on the right and the right one on the left or up side down it will cause this. But, if they are correct but too tight it can cause it as well.

OK, whatcha wannna do is cut shims to go under the front edge of the cart guides to hold them off and still tighten the screw.moodyholler wrote:KNJ backed off screws 1/4 turn holding guides in and it runs perfect.
