When I was young in West Texas/ Southern New Mexico, if we had a good freeze by Thanksgiving; and it seems we always did.
We would go out early and hunt cottontails.
Breakfast on Thanksgiving was always cottontails, biscuts & gravy.
Now all forms of nostalgia, no matter how benign are indicative of latent inability to cope; but those ARE fond memories.
I wonder if the young ones still do that?
Somehow I don't think so, who would have taught them?

Re: turkey day hunt
Sounds tasty to me
I must have very little ability to cope, since nostalgia is about all I find worth thinking about in this crazy world of today .

Thanks Mescalaro. Have many good memories of my Dad and brother and I hunting wabbits on Thanksgiving morning. Dad passed in 1996 but always thinking of him. Have a great holiday!
