Free to a good home..History of Buffalo Hunting book.

Post by WCF3030 »

dkmlever sent me a book postage paid titled "The buffalo Hunters ' by Charles M. Robbins III with one simple string attached "pass it on when your done."
Well I'm done.
It nicely covers the history of buffalo hunting, some main players, Indian raids (Adobe Walls) briefly some rifles and loads. Lots of pics.

First "I'll take it" gets the book with the simple string of pass it on when your done.

If it's not too late to be "next in line" for after nemhed is done with it, I'll play by the same rules and pass it along to a levergunner when I'm done with it.

I'll send nemhed a PM, thanks.

Who is next???

I enjoyed this book, and then passed it along to my twin -- who got wrapped up in a nasty divorce and then a move -- but I've finally got the book back here, and it's up for grabs.

Just reply here to claim it, and PM me your mailing address too!

I'd like to read it when Chris is done.

It will be shipped out to Chris on Wednesday, then on to all others in the list.

It's really cool that a list of LeverGunners who have read this book was started, and I have "flagged" that page with a piece of paper to ensure all others will continue to do so.

And thanks to dkmlever for starting this off!

Thanks Malamute. Bullard4075 has asked to be next, and Mod71Alaska asked shortly thereafter.

PM enroute.

Well it would be neat to have each person sign and date when they are done reading it.

Ol Malamute found the book in his pile of junk. My sincere apologies for those that have been waiting. I sent a note to Griff to be sure the info I have for his mailing address is correct.

It was a quite enjoyable read.

That book was an Outdoor Life Book Club selection my Father ordered when I was a kid growing up in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Pretty far removed from the "old West", Buffalo herds, or anything like it.
What an awesome read...!!!!
MANY years later, having never forgotten the story of Adobe Walls, I found myself on a business trip to Amarillo,TX and decided to take a little side trip to that spot in the panhandle I had read about all those years earlier.
I was totally alone there that day...stood quietly thinking about the "Billy Dixon Shot" from that broken down trading post ....Waaayyyyy out to the rise where I imagined the indians might have been lined up.

Ya'll are gonna LOVE that book if you haven't already read it. :D

I'll be next.............I'm a NUT about the Buffalo period of history. Must have half a dozen books on the subject, but I never read this one.

Email me when it is available

UPDATE: I just saw that it is available in Paperback from Amazon for $16 so I ordered a copy. You can take me out of the loop.

THANKS!
