My goodness...

That is a surprising and moving performance.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

An old (operatic) Soul...

(One of my favorite (and globally beloved) Arias too...)

Finally listened to it today, a friend from church was here today. I told her and my wife to listen and I played the video, we were just as amazed as you were. That is an incredible voice on that nine year old girl.

It does my old heart good to see the Lord bless these youngsters with that kind of talent. No matter if it is singing or playing an instrument. I am a big fan of Sierra Hull. She plays several stringed instruments and sings like a bird. She started around 8 or 9 yo and is now in her early 20s. A great talent.

If you read more about her, apparantly she decided to learn to sing after her brother picked up the violin... so she started watching YouTube videos on how to sing Opera.

What's interesting is that I probably believe that story more than most because that's how *I* learn music. Because of my moderate dyslexia I really can't "read music". I simply listen to it until I can "feel" the notes, whether it be from an instrument or my voice. It's a physical resonance thing.

Anyway, take "phycal resonance learning" and couple it with a natural clear tone and you have what we heard.

Sadly, if you never learn to Sight Read (as I cannot) you can't go far in music. I hope she gets "rounded out" and can make something of that voice.

OI, what you described sounds like what we call/called learning to play by ear. That is how I pretty much learned to play the guitar, mandolin and bass guitar. Also the "dog house" bass. You hear what is being played and then try to make your fingers do what your ears heard. Not easy for me! Seems to be a disconnect somewhere between brain and fingers. :) I am not a great player by any means, but learned enough over the years to make some good money at it, and had a lot of great times while doing it. Trying to learn the 5 string banjo now, but starting at age 67 is certainly not the way to go. :o
