Veteran Car Run

Post by perry owens »

Got up early on this beautiful autumn day, even though it's not a shooting day.
After a full English breakfast strolled down the hill to watch the oldest motoring event in the world - the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. Around 500 pre-1905 cars attempt the 60 mile route from London to the coast.

The event started in 1896 and, with a few stops for wars etc, has been an annual occurrence.
A surprising number make it.

At first I thought the red-helmet guy was in the car, too. Seemed a bit out of place!

Sausages, eggs, bacon, tomato, black pudding, fried bread, baked beans. Add mushrooms if you want to be posh or swap the beans for colcannon for a full Irish.
Sadly I don't have the £50000 - £150000 that these cars fetch these days so I only spectate.

That is really neat! I bet the guy driving the one with the solid tires is gonna have some hemorrhoid issues.

Doc, the guy with the helmet is trying to catch up with the short bus.---6
