like, but on the seldom occasion that they would fly or truck out a hot meal
while in the field I really loved the scrambled eggs, green or not.
If ya go to mountianhouse foods you can order ham and eggs from their menu
and it is one of my favorites for backpacking/camping.

You guys are killling me! As a Certified Executive Chef (there are less than 2500 in the US) I can categorically say that I have not eaten Spam since I was a kid at summer camp with the BSA at No-Be-Bos-Co in Blairstown, NJ while taking test for the Wilderness Survival merit badge! They left us alone on a small mountaintop with a #10 can of Spam to feed about five of us! That night having broiled Spam on a stick was indeed "Livin' Large"!
Wife of 18 years is a little picky though!
Not gonna see the inside of my pantry anytime soon I'm afraid!

Geez, Duff L Bag - that post most likely put me in need of a
quadruple bypass. Holy Cow!!!!
I used to make Spam 'n Egg sandwiches when I was a poor
student in college.
The fella who built my parents' house was in the SeaBees in
the Big One. He said they lived on SPAM for months and months,
until it all got to be too much. They got yet another shipment of
supplies, couldn't face the SPAM potion of it, and buried it all with their
bulldozers. Said they never got it and could they have some C-rats or something before they all starved.

I haven't had it in years, it's really not that cheap, either.
I have a movie, "The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit" where he's flashing back to his war experiences. His Italian Girlfriend tearfully confesses "I wish I had some SPAM"

Anybody remember the classic Monty Python skit,
"Spam, Spam, Eggs and Spam?"
And the Spam song that went with it?!

I cant remember if they were "C Rats" or "K Rats" we were fed when I was in basic, but I can truethfully testify that they did use real Rats.mescalero1 wrote:I am so going to tell my age here, but I remember C-rations with some fondness; Except for ham & lima beans
