Just saying "Howdy Boys" ... and Ladies ...

Post by JimT »

I drop by and read posts as I am able but rarely post unless it's something happening here and realized that I could at least be polite and say "Howdy".

We are heading into the hot season .. weather is definitely getting warmer. We haven't had any rain since April (a few sprinkles .. nothing measurable) and won't until the end of December or first part of Jan. so it's looking a bit like west Texas around here.

I hope ya'll are doing well. I leave you with a view that not a lot of folks up north have seen ... the Southern Cross.

No. I have tried on numerous times but my little digital camera just won't catch it very well.

Still in Mozambique? Brought your name up with the good Lord just the other night. You remain an inspiration for me as I try to set a course to get from where I am at to where I want to be.

Jim,
Are there really that many stars? Incredible! Goes to show you the pollution we have here, especially in the East.----------Sixgun

Yes there are! The African night skies are amazing when you are out in the bush .. a long ways from any light source that interrupts your view. We have no large cities in the northern part of Mozambique so we don't have to get too far out of town and the night views are incredible.

Aloha Jim, Thank you for sharing, never seen the Southern Cross before Hawaii being the lowest latitude I've ever been. All we have is Polaris to steer by. Maybe one day I get to fulfill my dad's dream of sailing to the Tua Motus. I haven't seen a sky that full of stars since living up in Kula, Maui... ah, the good old days. Kids are precious aren't they?
