An interesting old Ruger Super BH

Post by Chuck 100 yd »

I just finished this set of grips for a friends old Super BH. My friend Keith bought it new while in the Marines in Japan in the 60`s. He paid less than $70 for it when he bought it new and had it engraved by the Master of a Local engraving school. It had a pair of Asian Elephant Ivory`s on it that were badly shrunken due to improper aging before making them. They finally broke so I took them off and saved them to go along with the gun.
These grips are spalted Western Big Leaf Maple.
I would love to own this piece and would loose the scope real fast.

How much would it cost to replace it today???

There is a very early Blackhawk 44 where I bought My Colt yesterday, They are asking $1099. I asked what makes Them think that Ruger is worth as much as a Colt.
Love those Grips BTW.

Nice work on both parts...grips and the engraving. I bet the engraver spent some serious time on that deep engraving.--------6

Now that's a really special looking SBH!! Exceptionally nice job with the grips. Sets off the engraving fine. Really great work you did there, ...and I join you in your opinion about the scope.

Really pretty grips.

IF you were to get hold of that piece, I'd appreciate you losing the scope in my direction. Looks like an old Redfield and I can always give a home to another...

Super Cool!!

It's really hard to find custom grips for the SBH! I've been looking for years.
Any chance of making another pair in black walnut?

HA!

Single action grips are a cinch. Try finding grips for a Redhawk.

Those Maple grips are sure nice to look at. The engraving and the grips make for a beautiful pistol.
