Did some Tradin' ! Sorry, it's 4x4s and not Leverguns.

Post by 2ndovc »

Sure was a good weekend to do some trading!
I'll miss my Jeep but it was due for Several $K worth of maintenance and it just wasn't big enough for
the work I'll be doing.

We got a great trade for the Unlimited and EIGHT rebates from Ford on this sweet '13
4X4 crew cab.

It had all of 21 miles on it when we brought it home. I've wanted one of these for a Long time!! :D

Got the 5.0/ 302 V8 and the six speed automatic transmission.
This thing shifts as smoothly as my BIL's Audi A6!

Congratulations Jason. I've had mine for about a year now. Same engine and tranny but I don't need the 4wd. I'm getting about 21 mpg on my daily work travels. I'm still liking mine. :D

Jason, looks like you did real good on that trade. Always liked the Ford F150's. Had a few of them over the years. Likely, you're gonna be happy with it for a long time..

Nice truck! As much as I prefer the look of antique and/or collector vehicles, they cannot approach the safety, comfort, and convenience of today's new vehicles. That rig should last you for a good long while. :D

Love it!

That truck should last easy 2 decades or 300,000 miles whatever comes first!

Right now------that would be my chosen truck!

One thing you might want to look into Jason(just a thought)

When I got my 2001 Ford Escape(best vehicle I have ever had)I purchased the (anti-rust anode corrosion system)they retailed for $600 and I got it for $399(talked them down)
I then installed a earth ground rod(just an iron pole set 2ft in the ground)I have a 10ft small link (plastic coated)chain attached to rod and when I park my escape I simply connect other end(that has an alligator clip to my tow hitch.
My reasoning is for the anode to properly work correctly the frame/body/other attached metal stuff needs to go to earth ground(the rubber tires keep this from properly happening but the direct connection via ground/rod/chain/frame does this and inhibits the effects of corrosion(via road salt/moisture/etc.) I seldom even need to wash my SUV(its that Titanium color that matches our dirt here)

Bottom line---------2001 living in very humid shaded high snow/salt area-----------(no rust)

But------this is just what I do--------if the truck got hit by lightning ?????(If someone was in truck while getting hit while attached ????
So do at own risk. I park my SUV (outside)so when I pull up I grab the end of chain that is in a small coiled 6" dia area next to rod pull it out and (clip it)takes 5 seconds and know(least I feel)the corrosion demons are not eating my SUV. Here in this part of the country(what ends the vehicles life 9 times out of 10)is rust!
Myself(just me)even if I was parking it in garage------would be hooking to a ground rod!

I hate rust!--------------You got a beauty there though-----congrats!

ps-----neighbors 2006 4x4 crew cab Ranger--------(about all rusted out) (only has 48,000 miles on it)

That's interesting. The Jeep was an '08 and the hinges were starting to oxidize.
We get a lot of salt/ damp conditions too.

Thanks again Guys! Can't wait to go for another ride. :D

Biggest problem I see is that once you put the gun rack in the rear window, you won't be able to reach it from the front seat.

Pretty truck, should keep you going for a long spell.
