Missed a hog. Scope needed zeroed.

Post by piller »

I missed a shot at a wild hog Friday night. I checked the zero on Saturday and the scope had me hitting about 8 inches low and 6 inches right. I might have missed the shot anyway, but the scope was off enough that the shot went right in front of the pig as it was eating the corn from the feeder. For the first time that I ever missed a shot, I have an excuse.

I assume that last time it was right on or so at 100?

Did you bump the scope since you last shot it or are the mounts loose ?

Boy, that would get me a bit upset.

Perhaps the new fangled gadget came loose inside and the zero shifted?

Not a scope fan, but any time my gun doesn't shoot to the sights It irritates me no end.

The scope was bumped. When I checked it the next day, it stayed at zero for the 3 shots I used to check it. If it will stay in zero this time, then any miss will be purely on me. I have missed a time or two in my life.

I know that the Leupold Scout Scope, AO scout mount, and Leupold QRWs on my 1895 GS have held the same zero for 12 years or more.....I'll bet I've taken it off and on 40 times....I would not make this bet with lesser equipment.
