Starbucks Boycott......Fail.

Post by TedH »

I didn't hear about it until this morning, but apparently some anti's tried to organize a boycott of Starbucks today? Well, of course we tucked in our CCW pieces and headed straight to the closest Starbucks. No evidence of a boycott there. Long lines, and full tables. Some of them I recognized as fellow "gun folks". 8)

My wife went today too with her LCP, she said it was packed!

I must admit I'm torn on Starbucks. I'm happy the support the 2nd Amendment. But, some of their business tactics aren't all that reputable. In my town, they literally saturated the area, 5 stand alone stores and 4 (maybe 5) inside super markets. They have pushed out all but one non chain coffee houses, and two small chain stores.

They went so far as to put one right next door to a non chain shop, and had prices so low the original store couldn't compete. Funny, when that shop went out of business, Starbucks prices rose to what the others in the area were charging.

The one bright spot is the sole remaining non chain shop. It's in a downtown area, and had the largest mix of customers you've ever seen. From the disreputable (lawyers and judges) to families and including young rebellious folks, and a few of us older rebels, as well.

Starbucks had a shop a block or two away, and after several months of trying to lure customers away they closed it. Yes folks, there is at least one Starbucks that failed.

And their latest foray into a different market has been Disneyland Resort. They managed to put one into California Adventure when it went thru a recent overhaul. They have one going in on Main St. in Disneyland proper, and another going in in the Downtown Disney area. Of note, there was a nice combo bookstore coffee shop in Downtown Disney. They were forced out some months back, and Starbuck is moving in.

I didn't make it to Starbucks yesterday. The one in my town went out of business. I guess it was in a bad location, or went in too soon before Wal Mart did.

Hit the starbucks at 0800 on sat. No protesters. Half dozen regular customers and a couple of other geezers besides me packing concealed. Not much on their coffee but the tea is great. Carrot cake muffin really good.

Nearest SB is over 160 miles, but I did buy a pound of their ground coffee that one of our grocery stores carries.

Alpine is a nice place, and a college town besides.

I am surpised that there is no Starbucks... yet...

I bought it for her from a place online, they have a Facebook page too. It's called Offhand Gear.

We do have a couple of gas station/convenience stores that sell decent coffee, but I usually make my own, so buying the grounds was no big deal, except the SB stuff is way more expensive than I usually get.
