Thank you Marlin Shooter!

Post by MacEntyre »

Marlin Shooter noticed me lamenting that I was looking for a Browning 1895 in 30-06 like the one that I was late noticing in Ohio, posted here last month. So he sold me his'n, and jumped through FFL hoops to get it to me!

What a beautiful rifle! It's in like new condition, and the action is so smooth, it's on a par with my BLR.

Thank you so much, Marlin Shooter!

I've never used a Marbles FP sight... looking forward to figuring it out on a long range.

That could qualify for an "if only one gun" award...

It sure could. I have a ton of 30-06 ammo... and I noticed that everywhere I go, even during the ammo shortage, 30-06 is available.

Picked it up today... won't get to shoot it until next weekend. :)

This is the first gun I've purchased that needs nothing at all... well, it does need a blank for the dove tail where the rear sight used to be.

Hope I am not out of line here. But why does the lever split like that? I never noticed that before on the lever. Thanks in advance Mtn Jack

That's the design, the lower half un-locks it.

Hobie, that drawing shows five rounds in the magazine under a closed bolt... I could only get four rounds in. What'd I do wrong?

push down on the 5th round when closing the bolt. You can slide one in the chamber before doing so -- a 5 +1 deal.

The lever hinges just enough to unlock it just behind the trigger. It's shown on Hobie's diagram.

I took the '95 to a friends back-40 and shot it today... popped a balloon on the first shot!

Never could get it to hold five rounds, though.

I dunno why, but some 30-06 rifles don't have the recoil you might expect... this is one of them! It's a keeper!
