Pretty awesome stuff. I can never wait to get back to the Smith and soak it all in.

Yeah, it's not the best gun collection in the world, but overall pretty stunning. I pressed my nose right up to the only Da Vinci in North America today (and Rembrandts etc.) and was checking out the needlework on George Washington's uniform to boot. Just flat out wonderful stuff.

Washington's uniform is my favorite too. Also love the Spotsylvania stump. http://www.civilwar.si.edu/weapons_stump.html
All the weapons/presentations are incredible. If you get th chance to go to Mt. Vernon, you have to do it.

They've really lowered the lights a lot haven't they. I found that very annoying.

Is that at the Smithsonian in Washington? I love those museums... especially because the entrance is free.

Yep. We only had three and half days, but we made the best of them.

Finally got home and ran the original image through noise processing in Photoshop. Much better.

Let me tell you, that rifle was GORGEOUS. (I'd take those original veterans on both sides too!) :D
