This is the holster I got for my 1911s. It was made for Texas Ranger Doyle Holdridge. After doing a little research I found that Doyle was stationed mostly in Laredo, Texas and patrolled the border from El Paso to Brownsville. He has written a book called "Working The Border". He retired from the rangers and left at least one of his 1911s to the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame in Waco. I remember seeing it, WOW! You can see it here:

Here are a couple of Doyle's other pistols.

As usual, Great Pic!
I find it interesting how some of the most proficient lawmen of their day ever survived using equipment that the tactical gurus of today have deemed untrustworty! Needless to say, their survival was attributed to their proficiency!

Birdman, the BBQ is coming up when dove season opens. On the 864 acre ranch, leased for hunting, all the hunters and families come to have all kinds of BBQ. We bring our unusual, antique or fancy guns to have contest or just admire. It is fun and educational for the young ones. We do it again on the opening of deer season. It is a good time to welcome new hunters and laws that might have been changed. Gun safety is always gone over at the beginning of each BBQ. A good camp fire and hunting talk is good for the heart.
