Oregon and Washington have dry side fires too.

Hope everyone is OK and that no one trys to outrun them. The time to move out is before it's too late to move out.

Stay safe out there.

The Black Forest fire was 3 miles north of our house. We were lucky but many were not. They finally managed to get it out but we now have 9 more. It's a struggle just to breath outside

Father's day ended up with a bang for us. We live in the middle of BLM south of Yosemite. Daughter & son-in-law were over for FDay and as they were leaving and as soon as they hit cell service, they called to say we had a wild fire topping a ridge above us and headed our way (they had a brand new baby and I told them to not come back to help). Sure enough, we had the sheriff pull in to the driveway telling us we had an hour to get out of Dodge. 45 min later we pulled out with important papers, weapons, photos, computers & external hard drives & animals. Within 24 hours we had over 2,000 firefighters battling what became the "Carstens Fire". Long story short, we were able to return 4 days later. The house was still standing and the only problems noted was the whole house smelled like we had been camping and the milk was a bit chunky. Bet JohnDeFresno was a bit miffed at us because according to the news, he got all our smoke.

If we had to have a fire, now was the time to have it. As dry as every thing was, things would have been explosive should this have been August. Also, not may fires working in the state right now so they were able to assemble a large force very quickly. Also, this fire burned off a lot of fuel which hopefully means our next fire (and there will always be another) will have less to feed on.

(Here's a couple of photos, none of which are mine...)
