Marlin 39 and Fox

Post by Pop Watts »

I recently spent a few days out West of Sydney doing some shooting.
I have to confess that most of it was done with my 7-08 bolt action - but I did manage to shoot this dog fox with my Marlin 39.
We had shot some Feral Goats so when I butchered them I left a little pile of offal down behind a dam about half a mile from our camp. The idea was to attract any fox that might be hanging around - and it worked.
Just a quiet little stroll early in the morning and I caught him with a belly full of goat, laying in the warm sun feeling good about himself.
Winchester Power Point at about 30 yards sure messed up his day.
Hope to get away again next month so I had better do some more lever gun shooting or risk getting kicked off the site.
Pop.

Good Job. I found a 39A at a Gun store in Vacaville Friday, Has an old Lyman scope. Pretty nice Gun other than a couple spots where it looks like something was spilled on it and took the Blue off. Was sorely tempted but would have to drive 75 miles to pick it up when it's sentence was over. $399.

Hit him in the right shoulder and found a big chunk of the projectile under the skin of his left shoulder when skinning him.

Sixgun - Nath has too big of a head start for me to ever catch up.

Cool. Winchester Power Point is the best .22 LR HP round bar none.
